Running Mom of Twins

Running with a BOB Revolution Duallie

It would've been nice to have some kind of tutorial or heads-up on what to expect or a how-to on running with a jogging stroller. I watched a few tutorials, but really, it's just a learning curve.
It's very hard to have a normal running form and the important and challenging thing is that you have to find ways to retain your energy. Some tips when running with a jogging stroller that I learned along the way and perhaps a video or two coming soon showing how to run with a stroller that I will put up shortly.
  1. As with any running (with or without stroller), you want to keep your arms slightly bent and below your chest.
  2. Keep hands relaxed and slightly open - never ball up your hands into a fist.
  3. Keep one hand on the stroller handle bar at all times, while your other hand/arm is used to pump (at chest level with a relaxed hand). (video shortly)
  4. Alternate hands that will be holding the stroller handle. Do not run with both hands gripping the stroller throughout your run; you will lose energy fast this way and puts unnecessary strain on your upper body.
  5. When making a sharp turn or a U-turn, always turn with both hands on the stroller handle. (video shortly)
  6. When making a soft turn, use the hand (left if turning left, right if turning right) on the side you are turning to, as the steering hand. Sweep/push in towards the midline of your body/in the opposite direction you are turning in. (video shortly).
  7. Run with your back straight - do not lean over or into your stroller.
  8. Always keep your tires well inflated to help with easier steering and less resistance.

For proper running, follow BOBs recommendations on when to start running with your babies and how to do so safely. It is advised to not have your baby in the BOB or any jogging stroller until they can hold their head up on their own. The BOB has great suspension, but it still gets pretty bumpy in there. You'll want to make sure they are pretty strong and can keep themselves upright and fit snugly and securely in their seats (the average recommended age by BOB is 8 months, I do believe).
The babies first time in the BOB. Not jogging yet. 6 mos.
8 months. Ready for their first jog.

8 months. Just chillin' in their BOB.
10 months. Jogging makes them sleepy.
16 months. Enduring longer runs. Lakefront Trail

15 months. Summer run.
